ABOUT THE JOB

Rodriguez Construction Group is looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team and lead preconstruction efforts on some of our most impactful projects. This is a key leadership role responsible for developing accurate, competitive estimates and helping drive successful project outcomes from concept through award.

Job Responsibilities:

As part of the Estimating Department, the estimator will perform their duties and responsibilities in support of the department’s mission to win work through the development and submission of high-quality estimates and proposals. The following responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position.

  • Lead the development of detailed and accurate cost estimates and proposals
  • Review project solicitation documents and identify scope gaps or questions
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals for scope, pricing, and risk
  • Perform conceptual and fixed-price estimating
  • Develop cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and utilities
  • Manage prequalification packages and pre-bid submissions
  • Identify risks and develop contingency strategies to support project success
  • Collaborate with internal teams and conduct site visits as needed
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors.

Job Qualifications/Skills:

As the Senior Estimator, you will need to be a team player, detail-oriented, highly organized, hardworking, and able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure to meet/set goals, budgets, and deadlines. Specific qualifications/skills include:

  • Advanced computer skills and ability to use web-based construction management programs, take-off software, scheduling software, and estimating templates/programs, etc.
  • Experience with fixed price, design-build, or self-perform estimating
  • Experience with government projects
  • Background in concrete, masonry, steel, or interiors
  • Proficiency with cloud-based construction and estimating software

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent degree
  • 4–8 years of experience in construction estimating or related roles
  • Strong understanding of construction documents and estimating practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
