ABOUT THE JOB
Rodriguez Construction Group is seeking a detail oriented Payroll Administrator to oversee the company’s payroll function. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, and serving as the primary administrator of the payroll system. The Payroll Administrator partners with Finance, Human Resources, and Operations to support an efficient, accurate, and compliant payroll process. The ideal candidate has construction payroll experience, excels in a fast-paced, team oriented environment, and is motivated to develop and grow within the role through hands on experience and ongoing training. RCG will provide the training and professional development necessary to support the individual’s progression toward greater responsibility within the payroll function.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administer and oversee the company’s weekly payroll process, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll for all employees.
- Review, audit, and validate employee time, payroll data, job cost allocations, and certified payroll information to ensure accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company policies and prevailing wage requirements.
- Manage certified payroll and prevailing wage compliance for federal, state, and public works projects, as well as union payroll requirements, ensuring all contractual and regulatory requirements are met.
- Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports and supporting documentation, maintaining complete and accurate records for audits, client requests, and regulatory agencies.
- Support the administration and processing of wage garnishments, child support deductions, unemployment documentation, and related payroll matters, with the goal of developing the knowledge and experience to independently manage these functions.
- Document and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assist with the implementation and configuration of the ERP system and the transition of payroll processes.
- Serve as the primary administrator for the payroll system, maintaining configuration, employee data, and system integrity.
- Partner with Human Resources and Finance to administer payroll related processes, benefits deductions, earnings and deduction codes, and policy updates.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development provided by RCG to remain current with payroll standards, regulations, systems, and best practices.
- Support internal and external payroll audits and assist with resolving tax notices, registration issues, and other payroll related matters.
- Prepare payroll tax reports and assist with payroll tax filings as required.
- Assist with annual W-2 preparation and year-end payroll processing.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information and payroll data.
Job Qualifications/Skills:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of related experience.
- Construction industry payroll experience strongly preferred.
- Experience processing certified payroll for prevailing wage and public works projects strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Knowledge of the Davis-Bacon Act, prevailing wage regulations, and certified payroll reporting requirements is preferred.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll preferred.
- Comfortable learning and becoming proficient in new payroll and HR systems. Experience with UKG and/or Sage is a plus.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and wage and hour laws.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with other departments.
