ABOUT THE JOB

Rodriguez Construction Group is looking for a full-time Civil Estimator to join our construction team. This position will give you the chance to work on some of our firm’s top construction projects. This position will report to the Sitework Division Manager. This department focuses on sitework associated with vertical commercial/government construction projects.

Job Responsibilities:

As part of the Estimating Department, the estimator will perform their duties and responsibilities in support of the department’s mission to win work through the development and submission of high-quality estimates and proposals. The following responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position.

  • Accurately calculating quantities for earthwork cuts and fills, underground utility, and pavement surfaces, etc.
  • Review project solicitation documents for accuracy and completeness and develop questions as they relate to the assigned scope of work.
  • Evaluate and analyze subcontractor/vendor proposals to ensure accuracy in scope. (Quantities, schedule, inclusions, exclusions, etc.).
  • Determining the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for construction projects.
  • Collaborating with other teams, conducting site visits, and providing other services, like bid deliveries, when required.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors.
  • Assessing the risk levels associated with a project.

Job Qualifications/Skills:

As the Sitework Civil Estimator, you will need to be a team player, detail-oriented, highly organized, hardworking, and able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure to meet/set goals, budgets, and deadlines. Specific qualifications/skills include:

  • Advanced computer skills and ability to use web-based construction management programs, take-off software, scheduling software, and estimating templates/programs, etc.
  • Developed understanding of how to read and navigate plans and specifications.
  • Understanding of basic earthwork construction principles and practices.Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with multiple projects at the same time.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in civil or architectural engineering, construction management, or an equivalent degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ construction industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in self-performed sitework estimating.
  • Experience with foundations, site concrete, asphalt paving, and underground utilities.
  • Competency working with a wide range of technology, including computers, tablets, phones, and cloud-based software programs.
